About Us
Mr Snippers has been a Gentleman’s hairdressers since 1945. The business operates in a modern yet traditional fully air conditioned salon 6 days a week with 7 barbers. Their ages range from 19-65 so when we say we cater for all ages, this means we really do, from first haircuts to senior citizens.
With a no appointment system, and 7 cutters you'll never be waiting too long. All our barbers were trained in house by the shop owner Colin King in the same traditional style he was taught over 50 years ago, so we offer the traditional styles along with all the latest trends including clipper artwork.
History
The salon in St James St King's Lynn has been a gentlemen's hairdresser since 1945, originally called 'Pratt & Coldman'.
Colin began working in the salon as an aprrentice in 1959, the business expanded in 1964 opening a second, 4 position salon in Broad St.
Colin worked in both salons until, due to redevolpment of the town in the late 1960's it was closed with the remaining salon in St James St. remaining open.
Colin became a partner in the business in 1969 when Mr Coldham retired. The business became 'Pratt & King'.
In 1975 due to ill health Mr Pratt retired.
Colin became the sole owner and extended the salon to 4 positions and renamed the salon Mr Snippers.
As the business grew, more chairs were introduced.
Â
In 2007 the shop was completely refurbished adding a 7th chair. All these positions remain active with many customers, some regularly travel 50 miles to have their hair cut by the barbers in Mr Snippers. Colin now has the pleasure of cutting the grand children's hair of many of his clients, who's hair he cut in the early days as a gentlemen's hairdresser. Colin's son Andrew is one of the 7 barbers having  27 years experience and is also a partner in the business.
